Music writing - scores
New composition for saxophone quartet
One project currently under development is my second saxophone quartet. It is based on an inspiration from Rainer Marie Rilke, an author and poet who has deeply attracted me since my adolescence. It is being commissioned by the Jutlandia Saxophone Quartet, who have already performed and recorded my first saxophone quartet.
Re-working a composition for solo piano
I wrote seven movements for solo piano, amounting to about an hour's worth of music. Some of these movements seem a little weak to me in retrospect, while others, particularly the fifth movement, contain exciting elements that ought to be better developed. So I'm working on a recomposition of several parts of this work. It is likely that I will shorten it by removing the weak parts while developing the underexposed ideas, in order to present a shorter work overall with more rigorous content (the original version will be kept available in manuscript form, or 'Urtext' if you like)
New composition for 9 instruments based on sketch for 7
Inspired by a very rudimentary drawing by Calder entitled Spherical Triangle Ascending a Mountain, I once wrote the beginning of a septet. As it turned out, it was put aside for many years. But as it contains some very fine material I'm now working on developing it for a 9-instrument ensemble.
From the score to Origin I for 7 instruments and the manuscript to Origin II for stringtrio
During my time studying composition at the Royal Danish Music Academy in Aarhus with Per Nørgård I composed a cycle of three compositions under the title «Origin» (1991). You can here find two pages from the septet Origin I and following it some pages from the manuscript of the stringtrio Origin ii.
